The Rox Does Main Street

Ever since I was a little girls I have LOVED the parades. From the days of riding with Smokey when I was younger, to dance studio performance, cheerleading for PHS, and not to forget Jr. Miss, I have always loved being in parades. ESPECIALLY the Christmas parade! In case you have not gotten this by now...I LOVE me some Christmas. Hey, I get it from my mama.

Well, when GA was born, I made it perfectly clear that she would in fact LOVE parades too. This may quite possibly be my first parenting success documentation. GA LOVES the parades too!

This year, we didn't just watch..it was her first parade participation (with mommy of course!) - Back on the float with Smokey in more than 15-18 years (trying not to reveal any ages), there I was with my baby; handing out candy, waving, freezing, and getting my Christmas spirit on. I really thought that I would miss watching the parade and seeing GA's excitement. HOWEVER, participating is so much better!

She thought it was soooooo cool to throw candy out to her friends (while she ate her weight in it too), and to wave at complete strangers.   Pageant material?????   I think yes.

Stellar waving skills lesson in progress....

I so enjoyed spending that time with her. All of Roxboro was out. The largest crowds I've seen in years. EVERYONE was happy....smiles all around (and a few Pall Mall's here and there and koozies with beverage cans of a questionable nature.)

Much to my disappointment we did not make the front page of the Courier Times in the parade section. Oh well , there is always next year! Here is a somewhat lengthy recap in parade photography anyway :) - You gotta see what it is really like here On the Rox -

We let our children get dirty -

We will ride anything with wheels in order to be in the parade....

This is what "shootin' the breeze" looks like..... They (fire departments and such) also call my daddy "Booty" - weird.

Support the locals!

For people who love to shop local, I'm with ya.... Although the Rox has a somewhat limited (ie..no Target, no mall, no Belk, etc.) selection for shopping adventures, there are several that are well worth the shopportunity!

Here are some local shopping venues / ideas - which may or may not be included as my actual Christmas list-
(ugh hem...pay attention Sean Austin).

Idea #1:Wendy's Merle Norman - N. Main Street
Gift Certificate: Who doesn't need beauty supplies all year round? I do! Also, here is my recent favorite purchase.

I LOVE this train case. My Memaw always kept her make-up in this hot pink train case (proabably circa 1940's) - in our day would be known as a Caboodle? (spelling...IDK?)  I always loved going in her makeup and playing with her foundation and all her powders. She always had a TON - must run in the family!

Anywho, visit Wendy's Merle Norman locally, or your nearest Merle Norman for this sweet deal. (The eye colors and the dual lip pencil are my fave! It also comes with 2 travel cosmetic bags (the patent is in my purse right this second!)
Stop #2: The Bootery - Madison Blvd.
Who doesn't love/ needs shoes? This is an actual need. I need some black, chunky shoes that are comfy for work, and can go with dress pants and jeans, with a some minimal amount of cuteness. Luckily my old friend Max has the inside scoop for all footwear fashion at The Bootery.

-he knows about shoes - (Kimberly is one lucky girl!)- since his family has owned it for like a heck of a lotta years now- (since 1953 to be exact) - I love a local family business! Find out more information about their store here.

I have my eye on these two:

comfy and cute! I also think they will give me just the right amount of height for all my fave jeans!I tried these on in there one day and you would not believe the arch support. I now know that is what I am lacking in footwear needs.

Just sayin'- in case we hits da' lottery - I could use another pair ;)
IDEA # 3: Big Daddy's Auto Detail ;  Say-  What???? - @ your service!

Today I got my car cleaned inside and out + waxed for $40. - What a steal right? Especially for my car. Big daddy probably thought he shoulda charged this mama more- but, I am 1 happy lady! (No more snacks for GA in the car and I ain't going to Daddy's on the dirt road in this baby for a while).  It was long overdue for a thorough cleaning- This would be a great gift idea for men or women - or if you just wanted to do something nice for someone. There are other great places in town too, but I think Big Daddy has a great price right now, especially for a wax!
nice and shiny!- had to crop photo - y'all know how that goes.

Retail Therapy Options

Just FYI, I am about 95% done Christmas Shopping. Including SANTA! How about you? Well, if you are not off to an OH-SO-GREAT start, consider these local possibilities for all the ladies and little girlies in your life!

As Promised I am giving you updates on some local shopportunity. This past weekend, I had a great experience at the RCS Holiday Extravaganza. My company Specialty Design Co. set up camp and had a great turnout from repeat and some new customers. Just need to add that Monogrammed Scarves are HOT right now!!! Good gracious!
Check out my catalog for more options!

I love my little side-j.o.b so much because I can put my creativity skills to work as well as earn a little extra cash for my own personal upkeep (and y'all know I requires a LOT!) as well as saving some. I also hope to take my baby to Disney in the Spring next year so Mama is workin' hard! Most of all, I enjoy interacting with customers and giving them a great product that they love and not having to spend a ton to get something personal! I also love to see people's faces when they get something they love (ps. my Love Language is Giving/Receiving Gifts). Nothing makes me happier than to give someone a little prize!

When ever I attend these events I always like to scope out other various vendors because I love to support the locals!!! Well this past Saturday was a huge bonus score for me. I found this sweet little Boutique from Durham. I still consider local - who doesn't go to Durham? Seriously...Our options on the Rox are limited. It's called Smitten Boutique . I can't wait to go visit their store!

I got the BEST shoes from these ladies! I am so excited about them I couldn't help but share. I have gotten a lot of 3 for 1 deals before but not like this.

Oh my goodness! I am so in love. As the days of open-toe peeps are coming to an end, I needed a re-vamp in my closet for Fall. These are so very perfect!  First, they come with 3 amazing interchangeable snaps that give you  a 3 for 1 deal!!!! These flats are velvety, stretch and so completely comfortable. Pair them with some leggings, sweater dress, and a Pashmina and you are completely accessorized.
My fave are the pink, bling-bling snaps that I wore yesterday. I felt so sparkly all day!!! You can tell they are well-made too. After wearing them for 2 straight days all day they barely looked scuffed on the bottom.

I also got my mom the latest in comfortable fashion slip-ons. My Mom is real trendy on...the...real... Always looking her best and completely accessorized.  So, I decided to surprise her with some red slips ons that she cold rock over the HoLiDaYs! Pair those red shoes with her sassy new hair cut and color and she's a total knockout!
These are also comfy and cute with jeans or leggings. I dare to say I bought myself a pair too. The same shoes as my mama.
Scary.

So, on your next run to Durham, you have to check out Smitten Boutique. They had a ton of baby and kids Mud Pie items (trunk show Nov. 9th) and their website showcases all the lines they carry. Even PANDORA!

Next on the local shopping list:
- If you are a mama of a sweet little girl like me, you have to be in-the-know with the latest Hairbow diva that I have discovered. Meet Lesley Annas from Pink Pixie....a Girly Boutique.

The best thing about this lady is her AmAzInG prices! If your a cost-conscious mama you will be blown away by her skill and pricing. She has bows in all sizes and even the grippy stuff to keep them from falling out. She also has headbands, clip-ons, and pony tail accessories. Check out the handi-work!

I especially love these rosette clips and GA loves them too!  And if I can get a bow in her hair then, I call it SuCcEsS!

Hope this gives you a little fun start on shopping and some new places to visit!
Next on the list: THE MEN in our life... What to buy them???
Any ideas anyone?
XOXOXO Happy Shopping XOXOXO
